“Pars Septentrionalis Brabantiae, et circumiacentium Provinciarum”. Etched and engraved map with 2 inset plans of Bergen op Zoom and Breda in original colour. Shows the area between Mechelen and the Schelde in the West and the Maas and the river Aade in the East, reaching to Dordrecht in the North and to Eindhoven in the South. Amsterdam, “Gedruckt by Claes Janß Visscher. Anno 1625”. Verso no text. (PM) 40,5 x 56,5 cm.
With the additional remark near the right hand margin “’S Hertogen-bosch in dese forme belegert door Syn Exell. Fred. Hendrick van Naßou begonnen den 1.en May anno 1629”. According to Schuckman in Hollstein, 240, 3rd state (of III). For this state Schuckman refers only to a copy in the Welser-Atlas of the Österr. Nationalbibliothek Wien. Campell, 62, does not mention our state. – Strong impression of the plate with original margins at three sides, at the right hand side remargined. Full original colour. No centrefold. Few stains in places only. A rare state of an unusual map in very good condition.
