“Bononia Docet Mater Studiorum”. Bird’s eye view of the city, below the view keys 1-103 to buildings in the view. Etching in original colour by Joan Blaeu from his “Theatrum civitatum et admirandorum Italiae”, Amsterdam 1663. (PM) 51 x 57,5. The left margin with a pasted on strip of ca. 9 x 26 lengthening the view to some buildings outside the wall.
First edition, first state. Verso Latin text in 2 columns and page Nos. 55/56. – In outstandingly beautiful contemporary colour! Wide blank margins all around. Slight glue staining at the spot where the strip has been pasted on to margin. Else a near perfect copy.
Bella veduta generale in primo stato! Incisione in rame con pieni margine in ottima coloritura d’epoca! Il parte dove la striscia è collata al margine sinistro un po macchiato di colla. Altro in ottimo stato di conservazione.
