“Estats del’Empire du Grand Seigneur des Turcs, en Europe, en Asie, et en Afrique, divisé en tous ses Beglerbeglicz, ou Gouvernements; ou sont aussi remarqués les Estats qui luy sont Tributaires”; with a separate running title in Latin at top “Nova Imperii Turcarum Tabula, ad Usum..Burgundiae Ducis”. The Arabian Peninsula and the Turkish territories around the eastern Mediterranean with an inset of North-West Africa. Double-page map in shining original colour after Alexis-Hubert Jaillot, engraved in copper by Pieter Mortier and issued by Reinier & Josua Ottens, Amsterdam at around 1729 or later. (PM) 48 x 62 cm.
Originally issued in Jaillot’s Atlas Royal around 1694, dedicated to the son of Louis XIV., Louis Duke of Burgundy “Le Grand Dauphin”. This atlas was not produced in Paris, but in cooperation with and by Pieter Mortier in Amsterdam. Sometime after Pieter Mortier’s death the plates were sold to the Ottens family. The brothers Reinier and Josua reissued the map with their own imprint added, some copies - as ours - finely coloured in the early 18th century Dutch style! - Besides tiny colour spots in the title cartouche a near perfect copy in bright original colour with wide margins.
