Copperplate engraving in original outline colour after Job Ludolf by Christian Ludolf, engraved and published by G. Valk & P. Schenk, Amsterdam ca. 1700. Detailed map of Ethiopia and the Eritrean coast originating from an Ethiopian manuscript. Embellished with depictions of wild animal and the royal coat of arms of Ethiopia showing a lion (“Insignia Regis Regum Aethiopiae”). 44 x 54, 5 cm.

Very good condition: Fine and generally strong impression from the whole plate with ample margins. The lower left borderline with a small abrasion. Else only in outer margin negligible imper­fections.
