"Cette Carte est faite Pour L’Inteligence des affaires des Turcs et des Venetiens dans le Peloponese aujourd’huy La Morée Et les Isles de Zante, Cefalonie, Ste. Maure, Cerigo &c. A Paris. Chez N. de Fer.. 1705". Map of the peninsula and the southern Ionian Islands in original outline colour, engraved by Liébaux and published by Nicolas de Fer, Paris 1705 or later. In the lower left is a decorative title cartouche adorned with St. Mark’s lion. The cartouche is surrounded by 12 small city-plans with the dates of their recapture by the Venetians from the Turcs, f. i. Patras 1687, Sparte 1687, Navarin 1686, Malvasia 1687, Napoli de Romanie 1686 etc. (PM) 42 x 52, 5.
Cf. Pastoureau, Fer II C, 85; Zacharakis 999. Probably state 2. The dedication to and the coat of arms of Cardinal Ranuzzi have been deleted and the text of the title has been extended. Few stains and some restoration mainly to the right half of the map including the filling in of several holes. Wide white margins and all in all a good copy of an uncommon map.
