Nr. 382: Geneva. Genf
Beschreibung:
„Geneva. Genf“. General view with the lake in the background. Up in the sky a title-banderol and putti carrying flying panels with explanations. Below the view a detailed description of the city’s history in Latin and German with the coat-of-arms of the city. Engraving in original colour by an engraver in the workshop of Joseph Friedrich Leopold and published by him, Augsburg ca.1725/30. (PM) 20, 6 x ca. 29, 5.
No engraved signature whatsoever in the lower corners of the print! So far undescribed early state, before the engraved “No. 15” in the lower left corner and well before the later sign. „G. 7.“ in the lower right hand corner. – Stunning original colour, finely applied by a craftsman of the Leopold-workshop at the time of publication! At three sides ample margins, the left hand white margin skilfully replaced. Few other unimportant marginal imperfections. All in all a very attractive copy in outstandingly beautiful colour applied at the time of issue.
