”Carte Chorographique de la Partie Occidentale de l’Oberland ou le Comté de Gruyéres divisé en quatre bailliages ou gouvernements Aßavoir Gruyeres, Sanen, Ober Sibenthal et Nider Sibenthal. ou se Trouve le Gouvernement d’Aigle, et le Baillaige de Vevay. Avec les Frontieres de la Republique de Walais et des Pays Circonvoisins”. Engraved map by R. Benning after a manuscript by Samuel Loup de Rougemont; in lower left margin “Printed for and Sold by A. Drury in Dukes Court St. Martin’s Lane London 1766. Price 5 s”. Sheet size 61 x 75 cm.
Cf. Ryhiner Collection 3211: 31 and 8608: 34 (for 2 copies in an earlier state, dated 1754. A copy of our 1766 state obviously not in the R.-Collection). – Fine impression on strong laid paper. At three sides cut to platemark with good white margins. At top cut inside platemark (but without loss of lettering) and remargined. Some creases taken out. Unobtrusive restoration to upper centrefold. – A very good copy of an unusual map covering an interesting Swiss area.
